Chaste Tree Essential Oil
Vitex agnus-castus is a shrub or small tree native to Mediterranean Europe, central Asia and parts of India. It belongs to the Lamiaceae (formerly placed in Verbenaceae) family. The Chaste Tree has colorful flowers and small grey-brown hard berries. Essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves and berries of the Vitex agnus-castus L. plant [1, 2].
The main components of this essential oil are Cineol, alpha-Pinene, beta-Pinene, Sabinene, gamma-Terpinen, Terpinen-4-ol, alpha-Terpinyl Acetate, beta-Caryophylene, trans-beta-Fernezen, Bicyclogermacrene [1, 2].
Chaste Tree essential oil, which is widely used in traditional medicine, has been used for many years with its diuretic, antiseptic, analgesic, digestive, antispasmodic, antifungal, anti-anxiety and aphrodisiac properties [2, 3].
Vitex agnus-castus promotes a healthy balance of progesterone and estrogen levels. It may be effective at reducing some of the symptoms of menopause and relief menstrual cramps [3].
Directions:

To apply to the skin, do not use undiluted essential oils on your skin.
Used topically, supports the functioning of the female body.
Used in aromatherapy, Chaste Tree essential oil can have a hypnotic effect.
Suggested Uses:
Try adding it to a bath or diffuser as aromatherapy, or combining with different essential oils to strengthen its effect.
Add to a 30 ml bottle: 4 drops Fine Lavender essential oil, 2 drops Clary Sage essential oil and 2 drops Chaste Tree essential oil, then fill with Jojoba oil and shake to mix well. Apply directly to lower abdomen and lower back regions.
