Fine Lavender Essential Oil
Lavandula angustifolia species grow at high altitudes (above 600 metres) on dry, limey soil from plants distinguished by small flower heads and no side shoots from the main stem.
Fine Lavender essential oil is steam distilled from the flowering tops of the plant. Essential oil is a clear, colorless liquid with a characteristic odour. This essential oil contains a high percentage of Linalyl Acetate ester. Because Fine Lavender essential oil has a lower camphor content (0-0.8%), It has a very different profile from the other lavenders [1].
According to the ISO standard, Fine Lavender essential oil should contain linalyl acetate (25–47%), linalool (max. 45%), terpinen-4-ol (max. 8%), camphor (max. 1.5%), limonene (max. 1%) and 1,8-cineole (max. 3%) [2].
Fine Lavender essential oil, which is widely used in aromatherapy, has strong anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiseptic and antispasmodic activities. It has been popularly used for thousands of years for its sedative, headache-relieving, soothing, and skin-healing properties. One of the rarely known effects of Fine Lavender essential oil is its ability to relieve menstrual pain [3, 4].
